Words & Photography
by AJ Fernando

As you take on photography, you start to think visually and you find yourself living within scenes. You can create those scenes through staging and styling but the photographs with the most depth, those which truly resonate with others, are of scenes that came upon you without your control. You just happen to be at the right time and place.
...but the photographs with the most depth, those which truly resonate with others, are of scenes that came upon you without your control.
A vision comes alive in front of your eyes and you are there simply to frame it. With the click of a button, you've managed to keep everything about that moment even after it's passed: a specific setting with its own actors, emanating a certain mood or sensation attributed only to that time and space. You realize that you didn't just take a photo. You've captured a unique story that can only be told by you over time. You've created a photograph- a reflection of yourself in that scene and in that moment.
