Words & Photography
by Lean Timms

First breakfast in the new house, complete with fresh boiled eggs from our girls. And we are all very happy here this morning, especially the ducks, because we woke up to rain! Now on to sorting and finding places for the piles and piles of our unpacked boxes and finding my gumboots...and then, most importantly, learning how to farm ducks and chickens!
We're excited to clean out the pens, put in fresh hay in the laying boxes, begin a scraps bucket, and are even thinking of making our own grain mix for them instead of buying pre-bought.
This is where l wish so much that I could call dad for his help. That man was the chicken master. We're excited to clean out the pens, put in fresh hay in the laying boxes, begin a scraps bucket, and are even thinking of making our own grain mix for them instead of buying pre-bought. I hear they love corn? If any one has any chicken/duck rearing tips, I'd love to hear them!
