Words & Photography
by Madina Matters

Before I had a child, I thought I'd read all the possible literature about parenting. But when she came to us, it felt strange both to my husband and me to follow others' strict prescriptions concerning our baby. Therefore, we decided to make decisions about parenting based on our intuition. From time to time I do watch or read psychologists, whose opinion I respect.
...it felt strange both to my husband and me to follow others' strict prescriptions concerning our baby. Therefore, we decided to make decisions about parenting based on our intuition.
Here is a point of view of one of them that I completely agree with: "Making religion of parenthood is totally useless. If you find it easier to breastfeed, you do that. If you do that only for three months, so be it. If you prefer to sleep with your baby, then it's probably easier for you. If you realize that you both don't get enough sleep, and you're better off when he's in the crib, just let him sleep in his crib."
