"The enneagram is not a tool for self-absorption but instead a map for self-liberation."
- Christopher L. Heuertz

During the course of my personal growth journey, personality tests have become a very real tool in identifying my strengths, my tendencies, and my weaknesses in order to free myself from self-destructive behavior and make better, more empowering choices. Enneagram is one of my favorite tests because it doesn’t just tell us who we are at our best, it digs into the shadow sides of our being and helps us learn to love those dark parts too. The parts we sometimes don’t want to claim, the parts we project on others, the parts that are ugly and messy and broken. When we unearth those cracks within ourselves, that is where the light can shine through.

I am a 4, the romantic. And while that sounds beautiful and dreamy, it also leaves me hyper-sensitive and feeling incomplete. Working through past traumas and overwhelming waves of emotion...well it’s hard work. Work that I show up for every single day in order to heal. Having tools like these have been invaluable on my journey, making me feel more connected to myself and to the whole.

Have you taken the enneagram test? What were your results? Did you feel they reflected you accurately? What do you think you can learn from your results? I would love to hear what you think!
