But then she came and explained to me later that she didn’t mean that I wasn’t pretty, but that no one is the prettiest, because we’re all pretty in our own way. And that’s when it hit me, I TAUGHT HER THAT.
The other day Alivia’s school held a “Ma Spa” for all the first graders and their moms. They painted our nails, did our makeup, gave us massages, and snacks. When we got home we were discussing our day, and Eric said, "I bet Mommy was the prettiest mom there", and Alivia quickly said, "Nooo." My momma heart dropped, and we kinda made her feel bad for saying that. I cried some tears about it and just kinda felt a little rotten that my own daughter doesn’t think I’m the prettiest. But then she came and explained to me later that she didn’t mean that I wasn’t pretty, but that no one is the prettiest, because we’re all pretty in our own way. And that’s when it hit me, I TAUGHT HER THAT. And that is way more important to me than her thinking I’m the prettiest.

If my own daughter is willing to tell me that no one is the prettiest, because we’re all pretty, then I know I’m doing something right.
