As I had mentioned in the previous post, we had a Sushi Night over at Vanessa and Juve's on Friday. His sister Gaby wanted to show us how to roll our own, and had gone all out trying to make the night special. She bought new dishes and chopsticks just for the occasion, and we spent the first half of the night preparing all the ingredients. She and Vanessa cooked the sticky rice and tempura shrimp, and I was on platter duty, cutting up cucumber, avocado, crab meat, and ahi tuna.
A good handful of people ended up attending, and we spent the evening making our own rolls, laughing over sake bombs, and finishing the night with everyone taking turns reading their fortune cookie fortunes aloud. It was so much fun!
This looks like so much fun! I had a few college friends who knew how to make their own sushi, and this makes me a little sad that I never had them teach me.
