Each time I go back I rediscover fragmented new bits of my past...
East Texas hasn't been my home for many years, but it always will be. Each time I go back I rediscover fragmented new bits of my past, as well as my family's, and that realization is something that always draws me back home. Without these places beyond the Pine Curtain I think my concept of home would become a very unstable and rickety thing to behold.

“But that’s the thing about East Texas.
Red dirt never quite washes out, and pine pollen is tenacious as original sin.
You can leave East Texas … but you can never quite leave it behind.”

- Markham Shaw Pyle
