Words & Photography
by Michelle Cope

Usually my mornings consist of the kids waking me up at the crack of dawn, and me needing at least 30 minutes until my grumpiness wears off. I'll admit, I am not very pleasant in the mornings. But last night I decided to go to bed earlier than usual and set my alarm this morning for just 15 minutes before the kids usually wake up. Sounds easy...but not for me. I like to sleep in as long as possible.
As a result, I was surprisingly able to be a more present, loving, happier mother by just taking a moment for myself before tending to others.
I used those 15 minutes to meditate and set my mind straight for the day, before my bear cubs woke up begging for food. As a result, I was surprisingly able to be a more present, loving, happier mother by just taking a moment for myself before tending to others.

It's amazing what 15 minutes of morning meditation can do! I even made blueberry pancakes because I was in such a good mood.
