It’s so rewarding to fill your space with things you love.
We finally found perfect chairs for our small living room...sometimes it’s worth the wait. I’m loving our ever-changing minimalist boho home filled with thrifted, handmade, and budget finds. It’s so rewarding to fill your space with things you love.

The Most Coziest Time Of Year

Thursday, November 8, 2018

Words & Photography
by Melissa Landrus

This morning we woke to a dark autumn day:
pouring rain, chilly floors beneath our fresh-outta-bed-feet,
thuds of chestnuts falling from our big ol’ tree out back...this is it!
It’s the mooooost coziest time of year.

Autumn Leaves

I have a real obsession with autumn leaves.
I love the different colors, the smell, the way each one is unique.
Every time I find one that I love, I pick it up,
which happens every time I go out.
I have some in my pockets, in my books,
and all around the house.

A Refreshing Escape

"The goal of life is this: to make your heartbeat match the beat of the universe;
to match your nature with Nature."
- Joseph Campbell

This morning was an escape. To forage in the woods for sage and snow berries and dried flowers, inhaling the crisp autumn air, taking what was seemingly dead—dormant—deeming it beautiful, working it into a wreath...was refreshment.
A reminder to not forget to step away from our daily habits, to create with our hands, to roam in fields and forests, and call to life even the most unassuming of things...

Apple Season

Monday, October 22, 2018

Words & Photography
by Autumn Boucher

We’ll be enjoying our harvest all winter long thanks to the canning we did this season, and every time we open up a new jar of apple and cinnamon and allspice, we will be reminded of how sweet hard work, planning, and preparation can taste.
Every last apple in the house has been turned into pie or sauce or cider...and just like that, apple season is over. We’ll be enjoying our harvest all winter long thanks to the canning we did this season, and every time we open up a new jar of apple and cinnamon and allspice, we will be reminded of how sweet hard work, planning, and preparation can taste. Nothing is better than the taste of late summer in the middle of a cold, icy day.

Fall Sunshine

Friday, October 19, 2018

Words & Photography
by Amy Wadlington

I'm sitting outside on this crisp autumn morning, and every once in awhile the clouds will break enough for the sunshine to peak through long enough to warm up my back.
...it brings me to a cozy, relaxed place where I just want to close my eyes and reflect on the things I'm most grateful for.
Two of my favorite things are a warm cup of tea and sunshine in the fall. Fall sunshine isn't like the heat of the summer sunshine. It holds a different kind of warmth that reminds me that the sun is still shining, and it brings me to a cozy, relaxed place where I just want to close my eyes and reflect on the things I'm most grateful for.

Free Rein

Thursday, October 18, 2018

Words & Photography
by Alexandria Smith

My big girl who loves to bake. Her favorite days are the ones I give her free rein in the kitchen to create and experiment as she pleases.

I've had so many mamas reach out about how we got to this place, and I get it...the idea of letting your seven year old loose in the kitchen can be a bit of a frightening thought (mostly because of the mess, amiright?) But honestly, it's just been the absolute best watching her grow in creativity and confidence. What worked for us was just having them all in the kitchen with me from a super young age. They cut with their safety "knives," learn measurements and flavor marriages, and gain comfort being there by working alongside me.
She's not only engaged in practical application, but also learning it's okay to make mistakes, and how to handle those feelings that can feel like failure right at first.
About a year ago I started letting Daphne work alone in the kitchen. It usually takes a couple of hours, and she knows she just has to put everything away and leave it cleaner than she found it...so far so good! I watch her float away from the tangible world around her into a place of make believe as she works, and it's just one of my favorite things. She's not only engaged in practical application, but also learning it's okay to make mistakes, and how to handle those feelings that can feel like failure right at first.

It's a scary thing to release little bits of control into the open hands of our children, but what a gift to observe how beautifully they handle that freedom.

Celebratory Baking

Cassie's procrastinating baking edition,
but this time I’m not procrastinating.
This time I’m baking in celebration of all three of
my sickly people that are finally on the mend.
Homemade scones hack that I just discovered:
I stuck my butter in the freezer last night
and used a cheese grater to cut it finely this morning
and it made the most delicious scones.

Little By Little

Thursday, July 26, 2018

Words & Photography
by Kristi Reed

This past week I’ve been consciously taking time to be outside, to slowly hang the clothes on the line, to water each plant in the garden by hand, and to collect eggs one-by-one.
I’m guilty of getting sucked into our fast-paced society filled with short cuts and conveniences, and often don’t give myself enough of these simple pleasures. There is really something to be said about slowing down and doing things the long way...

Elderflower Syrup

Wednesday, July 11, 2018

Years ago I had the pleasure of tasting homemade elderflower cordial in Denmark at the home of the amazing Marina Pagh. The cordial was incredibly refreshing, floral and citrusy, it was addictive and I’m afraid I nearly drank their whole bottle on my own!
The cordial was incredibly refreshing, floral and citrusy, it was addictive and I’m afraid I nearly drank their whole bottle on my own!
Over half a decade later, after trying countless disappointing store-bought elderflower syrups and searching far and wide for the flowers, I finally came across a huge tree dense with blossoms only a few doors down from the apartment. Needless to say, I’m over the moon!

A few days from now I’ll have my own syrup of summery bliss, packed into bottles and ready to provide that heady taste of summer year-long...I can barely wait!

Olive Oil And Herbs

Thursday, July 5, 2018

Words & Photography

Infusing olive oil with herbs from the garden -
which conveniently doubles as an aromatherapy session.
There should be a smellstagram because it’s sooo good.
One of my (many) garden goals this year is to
make enough of this to last the year,
plus some for gifts.
